Album of the month September ’17

The album

Modern Ruin by Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes.

A relatively new album compared to my other selections. This one is an old school rock album that you can sit back and appreciate without having to listen to intricate, over-complicated lyrics à la Radiohead et al.

The simplicity of the album is its greatest strength and not having to concentrate too much on its cleverness allows you to zone out and concentrate on external things – making this the perfect gym album. The fact it’s about 40 minutes long makes it an even better fit for those short, intense sessions.

Best song on the album

The best song on the album has to be Real Life. This is a bit of a slow burner but once it gets going it’s by far and away the biggest banger of the lot.

I’d give the album a 7.5/10. Loads of goodens but a few slower tunes let it down a bit. Still worth listening the whole way through though if the slower melodies are your cup of tea.

Give the album a listen below.
